My Entrepreneurship Story

When I was young, I always wanted to be an inventor. I thought I could be the first person to invent a time machine or some other crazy invention, and change the world. Now of course, I realize that inventing a time machine is quite impossible, but creating something that could change the world is still possible. So everyday I always try to think of little inventions that could improve even the slightest part of my daily life. Everything I have come up with so far, already exists or is simply unrealistic. But I have hope that one day a spark will go off in my brain and I will create something new that if nothing else, I will be able to use. I like to watch the show Shark Tank every once in a while, because its really entertaining to see what other entrepreneurs come up with, and maybe it could help me come up with an idea myself. I have not met any great entrepreneurs personally, but my uncle works for a company that designed remote keys for hotel rooms, and I like to consider him an entrepreneur, even though he is working with a team. He has showed me the programming side of creating what his company designed, and the management of the software, teaching me that even though the design process is complete, there is so much work that must be done to keep it running smoothly. This is the entirety of my experience with anything related to entrepreneurship.

I enrolled in ENT3003 mainly for the elective credit, but it also is one of the only elective subjects that truly interests me.

And this is my dog Buddy, who inspires me to do great things.

  1. Good afternoon Owen,

I like your idea of a time machine, I really think you should stay with that idea. Just joking about my first statement, but on a real note, I am sure that spark will happen with you, I really enjoyed reading your post. The fact that you try to find ways to improve your life on a daily basis is setting you on the right path to land that big spark.

Good luck with your ideas and I hope you get everything you want out of the class!

PS. Buddy looks like he can inspire anyone!

  2. Owen,

I think it's so great that you have such an inspiration to be an inventor and that you are continually pursuing it. That's incredible! I agree that your uncle could be considered an entrepreneur because if he is having to constantly innovate in order to progress the business I'd say that meets the expectations. Luckily for me there are some other electives that interest me but I'm sure that you'll find at least another one in the next semester. But for now I'm glad we get one to shape Our views in a entrepreneurial way. I think we'll get quite a few interesting ways of looking at life from this class and I think it will benefit us greatly for our endeavors.

    Thanks for sharing, Zach L.

  3. Owen,

I like how you got to experience entrepreneurship on a close level with you uncle. I also think that it is neat that he taught you how some of their processes work. The technology now is so advanced that maybe eventually you could build your own invention to better you everyday life. I think that you should keep thinking of the ideas every day and then you know, one might work where you can change the world.

    Will
